Lancaster Car Hire Agreement
All vehicle rentals in Lancaster are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms and conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Lancaster, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, in addition to any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Lancaster office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with payments processed through trusted providers for your security.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough examination of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and fees will be applied as necessary. The vehicle must also be returned with the same amount of fuel as it had at pickup; refueling charges will be incurred if not. Late returns can result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if a late return is expected. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental, in addition to a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may opt for additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- Vehicles rented from Car Hire Lancaster must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or other dangerous maneuvers. Additionally, transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding weight or passenger limits, and operating beyond agreed geographical boundaries without consent are also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Lancaster is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
